Softball takes 2 on opening day

Game 1

Jade Strickland was dialed in at the plate on Friday, tallying four hits and leading Northern Oklahoma College to a 13-10 win over Luna Community College.  Strickland tripled in the second, tripled in the fifth, singled in the sixth, and tripled in the seventh.

NOC tallied 18 hits in the game.  Strickland, Head, Wilburn, Lee, and Ball all managed multiple hits for Northern.  Strickland led Northern Oklahoma College Jets Varsity with four hits in six at bats.

Victoria Vasquez was the winning pitcher for Northern. She went five and two-thirds innings, allowing eight runs on 12 hits, striking out two and walking one.  Bailey Gilliam threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.  Gilliam recorded the last four outs to earn the save for the Jets.

Game 2

NOC softball opened up the scoring in the first inning, when Lindsi Spring singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Spring led the Jets to victory on the rubber as well. She surrendered two runs on five hits over seven innings, striking out 11 and walking zero.

Northern Oklahoma College Jets totaled 12 hits in the game.  Kelsey Gammage, Jade Strickland, and Addison Gilliam all managed multiple hits for the Jets.  Strickland and Gammage each collected three hits to lead NOC.

Northern will continue the cowtown classic with a triple header starting at 9AM against Seward CC followed by Ranger College and The Galveston Whitecaps.
