Jets rout Mavs in clash of ranked teams

The #11 NOC Enid Jets routed the #10 NOC Tonkawa Mavericks 17-5 and 11-7 in Region 2 play at David Allen Memorial Ballpark Wednesday afternoon.

NOC Enid (26-8) improved to 6-0 in Region 2 play while the Mavs (32-9) dropped to 3-3 in league play.

Tanner Neely blasted two three-run home runs and added a double leading the Jets to a 17-5 win over the rival Mavs.

The Jets spotted NOC Tonkawa a 3-0 1st inning lead and then scored 17 unanswered runs to win in a five inning run-rule.

Neely's first home run led to a seven run first inning turning a 3-0 deficit into a 7-0 lead.

His second blast came in the 4th inning.  Neely had six runs batted in.

Alec Buonasera added three hits and three runs batted in.  EJ Taylor and Dylan Caplinger had two hits each in a 15 hit Jet attack.

Kaleb McCullough (6-0) settled in after a shaky first inning striking out eight Maverick hitters allowing eight hits and five earned runs.

Jets 11, Mavs 7

The Jets scored six first inning runs and held off the Mavs 11-7 to sweep the double header.

NOC Enid maximized six hits with 11 walks to score 11 runs against the Mavs.  

DJ Calvert had two hits while Shane Nixon had two runs batted in.

The Jets also stole five bases.

Evan Kowalski (5-2) picked up the win allowing three runs in 5.1 innings.  Lawson Isaacs pitched three inning to earn the save allowing two earned runs.

The Jets-Mavs play the final two games of the four game Region 2 set on Sunday in Enid at David Allen Memorial Ballpark at 2 p.m.

The games were moved from Tonkawa due to impending rain on Saturday.
