Jets fall to Western in battle at the top of Region 2

ALTUS, Oklahoma -- The #11 NOC Enid Jets dropped a doubleheader to #2 Western Thursday in a battle of the top two teams in Region 2.

The Mavs lost the first game 7-5 and the night cap 7-1.

NOC (33-14) dropped to 12-6 in Region 2 while Western (44-8) improved to 16-2.

The Jets host Western Friday, May 3 at 1 p.m. in the season's final regular season games.

Western 7, Jets 5

EJ Taylor, DJ Calvert, and Shane Nixon each homered for the Jets but it wasn't enough in a 7-5 loss in Game 1.

After trailing 2-0 early, the Jets scored three runs in the 6th to take a 5-3 lead over Western but the home team responded with four runs in the 6th to take a 7-5 lead.

Calvert had three hits for the Jets while Dylan Caplinger and Matthew Henderson had two hits each.

Evan Kowalski and Lawson Isaacs combined on the mound for the Jets, Isaacs (1-1) took the loss out of the Jets' bullpen.

The Jets out hit Western 10-5.

In Game 2, the Jets had an Alec Buosanera solo home run but that was it for NOC Enid as they dropped the night cap 7-1.

Bousanera added a single, Shane Nixon did as well accounting for the three Jets' hits.

Connor Priest (2-1) started on the mound for the Jets allowing four earned runs while striking out three in four innings.  Brandon Hudson pitched the final four innings for the Jets.
