Hudson dominant in win over Pearl River, Jets advance in World Series

Brandon Hudson allowed just two runs over 8.2 innings leading the NOC Enid Jets to a 4-2 win over top seeded Pearl River in the NJCAA Division 2 World Series Monday night.

NOC Enid (40-17) advances to Wednesday where they face Pasco-Hernando (FL) winner at 3:30 p.m. at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.

Hudson, a freshman from Little Rock, Arkansas, struck out 10 Pearl River hitters and walked four allowing just three hits.

NOC Enid scored a single run in the 3rd inning on an EJ Taylor double scoring Seth Graves.  Graves scored again in the 5th inning on a DJ Calvert triple.

The Jets took the lead breaking a 2-2 tie in the 7th as Brendon Woelfle scored on a wild pitch and Shane Nixon scored on a Calvert ground out.

Monday's story, however, belonged to Hudson who was in total control of the top seed's offense.  

After allowing two early runs, Hudson tap danced around trouble in the 5th inning pitching around two walks and an error.

Then Hudson retired 10 of 11 Pearl River hitters until a hit batter and walk in the 9th finished his evening of work.

Lawson Isaacs then came out of the Jets' bullpen and induced a long fly out to Seth Graves to end the game.

Graves led the Jets with two hits and two runs scored, Calvert had two runs batted in.

The Jets only had five hits but has timely extra base hits from Taylor and Calvert to score runs in the 2nd and 5th innings.

NOC Enid took the lead in the 7th when Woelfle and Garrett Misenheimer walked to lead off the inning.  After Graves reached on a bunt single the Jets had the bases loaded with no outs.  Woelfle then scored on a wild pitch giving the Jets a 3-2 lead and then Nixon, running for Misenheimer, scored on a Calvert ground out giving the Jets a two run cushion.
