Matthew Henderson's walk-off single scored Ambren Voitik giving the top ranked NOC Enid Jets a 5-4 win on Saturday as the Jets salvaged one game in the four game set with Northeast (NE) Community College.
"First off, we need to tip our caps to NE Nebraska for coming down and playing at a high high level," said Jets coach Scott Mansfield. "We knew this weekend was going to show us where we are at as a team and what aspects we need to really improve on and this weekend did that. There were some positives and there were some negatives but regardless, we're going to learn and grow from this weekend."
Freshman Ambren Voitik had a big series for the Jets with eight hits including a home run and two doubles. He also scored eight runs for the Jets. Felllow Freshman Connor Thaxton had seven hits scoring four runs.
Sophomore Alec Buonasera also homered and doubled for the Jets. Sophomore Shane Nixon added four hits in the four game series.
Freshman Alex Smith picked up the win in Game 2 allowing no earned runs in four innings while striking out five.
NOC Enid is off until Feb. 8 when the Jets host Hutchinson (KS) Community College for a doubleheader.
