Jets fall to Mavs 75-53 in Tonkawa

The NOC Enid Jets dropped the second round of the battle of the NOC's Thursday night 75-53 at Foster-Piper Fieldhouse in Tonkawa.

The loss dropped the Jets men to 11-9 on the year while the Mavericks improved to 20-5.

NOC Enid got off to a slow start falling behind 31-12 to the Mavs.

Trailing 45-21 at half, the Jets cut the lead to 54-37 but couldn't cut the deficit any closer than 17.

"They (NOC Tonkawa) came out with great energy the first 15 minutes and we didn't match it," said Jets coach Greg Shamburg.  "The last five minutes of the half we started finding some rythym and that continued into the second half.  We tried to make a run but we just couldn't make enough shots.  Defensively, I thought we were much better in the second half but we struggled to score.  Give credit to them, they brought great energy that first half.

The Jets were led by Kennan Ballance with 10 while Denzil Haynes added nine.
