Hot shooting spurs Jets to win over Trojans

SHAWNEE, Oklahoma --  The NOC Jets players were not ready for coach Greg Shamburg to retire.

Behind 16 3-point baskets and 34 points from Tony Hall, the Jets routed Seminole 104-79 Thursday night in the Region 2 Tournament quarterfinals at Shawnee.

The Jets (16-11) will face top seed Connors (27-3) in the semi-finals at 6 p.m. Friday night and for at least one day extended the career of their coach.

"All year we have struggled to make shots consistently," said an elated head coach Greg Shamburg.  "Tonight was our night, shooting 16 of 23 (70 percent) from 3-point range was just amazing."

Shamburg said the Jets have been more consistent offensively.

"Over the past three weeks, our guys have been shooting it better," Shamburg said of his Jets who have won 7 of their last 10.  "The key is our guys are playing loose right now, they are relaxed and just playing."

Freshman Tony Hall was 12 of 16 from the field and 8 of 10 from 3-point range Thursday scoring 34 points.  Romio Harvey was 6 of 7 from field and 5 of 6 from 3-point range on his way to 23 points.  Kennan Ballance chipped in with 17 points.

Hall also added 10 rebounds for the Jets.

The Jets led Semonole 48-45 at half in a nip and tuck battle.  Romio Harvey hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give NOC a 48-45 lead at intermission.  Harvey had 13 first half points while Hall added 11.

NOC Enid then outscored Seminole 56-34 to blow the Trojans out in the second half.

"I guess they weren' ready for me to retire," Shamburg said with a smile."
