Jets fall at NOC Tonkawa 80-65

TONKAWA, Oklahoma -- The NOC Enid Jets fell to rival NOC Tonkawa 80-65 Friday night in Tonkawa.

Freshman Rance Kendrick led the Jets with 20 points while Romio Harvey added 16.

Fourteen of Kendrick's game high 16 came in the second half.  Nine of Harvey's 16 came after halftime.

"I thought for the majority of the first half we defended at a high level," said coach Aaron Butcher.   "We had a few live ball turnovers that allowed them some easy points. At the end of the day, giving up 20 offensive rebounds, committing 16 turnovers, and going 16-27 from the free throw line was too much to overcome." Our guys are continuing to fight and show their resiliency which is a positive sign."

The Jets (9-15) battled the Mavs even in the first half taking a 29-28 late in the half on a Harvey basket before the Mavs scored the final five points of the half taking a 33-29 lead.

NOC Tonkawa jumped out to a 54-38 lead in the second half before the Jets rallied to 72-60 on a Harvey 3-pointer with 2:43 left.

NOC Tonkawa then stretched the lead in the game's final minutes.

Friday's game was rescheduled from Thursday when classes and activities were canceled due to icy road conditions.

NOC Enid hosts Seminole Monday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Mabee Center in Enid.
