Chris Gerber is entering his sixth year at Northern Oklahoma College and third year as the head coach for the Jets Basketball Program.

Gerber's tenure at NOC-Enid began in 2017 as an assistant coach to long time Jets head coach Greg Shamburg.

He later served as an assistant to Aaron Butcher for two seasons before being promoted to the head coach position in October, 2020.

 

Gerber's first season as head coach included a 13-3 record in the competitive Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference.

The Jets finished the year 17-5 after advancing to the Region 2 championship game where they lost a hard fought 66-64 decision to rival NOC-Tonkawa.

Three of his NOC-Enid players earned Region 2 honors and seven went on to receive scholarships at four-year universities.

His second season concluded by reaching the Region 2 championship game for the second straight year.

The Jets knocked off #1 seed NOC-Tonkawa, #4 seed Seminole State, before falling to Connors State in the title game.

J'Lynn Counter was named All-Region before signing a NCAA Divison 1 offer with IUPUI.

In Gerber's third season the Jets finished with an overall record of 22-10 and 11-5 in OCAC play. Jordan Thompson was named the Conference Player 

of the Year and was also named 3rd Team NJCAA All-American. Daylon Andrews also 2nd team NJCAA Region 2 honors. 

 

Prior to joining NOC-Enid, Gerber spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

He also spent two years at Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas. There he served as the Head JV coach during the 2014-15 season.

 

A native of Conway Springs, KS Gerber graduated from the University of Kansas in May, 2014 with a Bachelors Degree in Sports Management.

He later obtained a Masters Degree in Sports Management from SWOSU in 2018.
