FT. WORTH, Texas -- The NOC Enid Jets won two games at the Cowtown Classic in Ft. Worth, Texas, last Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, NOC Enid lost to Weatherford College 11-2 and rebounded to beat Independence, Kansas 20-1.
On Saturday, the Jets lost the opener to Cottey Colley 7-2, rebounded for a 10-5 win over Hesston College and then lost to Angelina College 7-4.
"It was an up and down weekend," said Jets head coach Ashley Johnston. "Offensively, we scored a ton of runs but we struggled defensively with 14 errors. Fortunately, they are all correctible mistakes. We'll learn from those and be a better team. We have to be better at communicating on the field, that is something we are going to work on this week."
"Also, we didn't have Brooklyn (Sparkman) in the circle except for one game due to illness and that made a difference in our pitching depth," Johnston said.
"We'll learn from this weekend and be better in the long run," she added.
For the five games, the Jets hit .374 and scored 38 runs.
Kelsey Gammage led the Jets hitting .647 while Maddy Pitts also hit above .500 at .556. Kyia Monahwee hit .429 with four extra base hits including a home run against Angelina College. Lindsi Spring also homered against Hesston College. Alexia Vargas leads the team with 6 rbi's.
In the circle, Lindsi Spring and Brooklyn Sparkman each picked up a win.
