Two Pitchers Team Up As NOC Defeats Frank Phillips College In Shut-Out

NOC defeated Frank Phillips College 10-0 on Saturday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Courtney Vaughn induced a groundout from Sara Lane to finish off the game. Kyia Monahwee led NOC to victory by driving in four runs. She went 2-for-4 at the plate. Monahwee drove in runs on a double in the third and a home run in the sixth. NOC scored three runs in the sixth inning. The team scored its runs on an RBI home run by Monahwee. A double by Shelby Coats in the fifth inning was a positive for Frank Phillips. Lindsi Spring led the Lady Jets to victory on the pitcher's mound. She surrendered zero runs on zero hits over three innings, striking out three and walking one. Vaughn threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Coats toed the rubber for Frank Phillips. She went five and two-thirds innings, allowing ten runs on 11 hits and walking one. The Lady Jets launched two home runs on the day. Courtlyn Head went deep in the second inning. Monahwee had a homer in the sixth inning. NOC had 11 hits in the game. Lexi Vargas and Monahwee all collected multiple hits for the Lady Jets. Vargas went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead NOC in hits. NOC didn't commit a single error in the field. Vargas had the most chances in the field with seven.
