Jana Williams named NOC Enid Softball Coach

Northern Oklahoma College announced the hiring of Jana Williams to lead the NOC Enid Jets Softball Program.

Williams will begin her softball/teaching duties in early September.

"I am so excited to be at NOC Enid," Williams said Wednesday.  "When I visited the campus, I was so impressed by how friendly, polite, and genuine the people are.  It is really refreshing."

Williams contacted her players this week and is excited to get to know them as student athletes.

"These sophomores have now had three coaches in one year, she said.  "They need stability and I'm excited to provide that.  I would not have been interested in this position had I not planned to build something long term at NOC Enid."

Williams is excited about the Enid facility with the turf field and nice indoor facility.

"I am so impressed with the facilities," she said.  "These are the kind of facilities that you can build an excellent program.  The turf allows you to play more home games and that's better for the student athletes."

One area Williams stresses is Strength & Conditioning, she says will be a priority in the softball program.

"Every program I have been associated has had a strong Strength & Conditioning program," she said.  "It's so important for athletes to be in peak physical condition."

"We are very excited about Jana joining the Northern family," said NOC Athletic Director Jeremy Hise.   "We look forward to the passion, energy and experience that she will bring to our program.  The vision she shared with us during the interview process is a perfect fit with the culture of our college and our athletic department."

Williams, a native of Emporia, Kansas, graduated from Emporia High School in 1999 and Barton County Community College in 2002. She earned a Bachelor's of Science in Health and Human Performance from Fort Hays State University in 2006. She completed her Masters of Science in Health, Physical Education and Recreation in 2009 from Emporia State University.

She has had coaching stints at Hutchinson Community College where she was associate head coach and also assistant coaching positions at the University of Central Missouri and Barton County (KS).

Williams replaces Ashley Johnston who coached the Jets to a 32-24 record in 2018.  Johnston is now at Southern Nevada College.

She will be assisted by Alison Mark.
