Lady Jets Women's basketball takes on The Cove

Over this past weekend, the NOC Lady Jet's Women's basketball team took their annual team retreat to the NOC Cove at Kaw Lake. The weekend was filled with laughter, games, team activies and acts of service. The girls were able to get to know each other on a deeper level and work together to accomplish tasks. Taking a break from all of the team bonding activities, they took time to do some painting and cleanup around the camp ground. They painted the front porch of one of the cabins and also removed rocks that a flood had carried up to a picnic area. The girls worked hard and enjoyed their experience giving back to the camp ground.

Freshman Addi Meeker said of her first time at The Cove, "My first time at The Cove I made a ton of memories. I got close to girls I haven't really talked to much. Painting for community service was a lot of fun!! When I paint I always put it on my face like war paint! I feel like doing that just makes it even more enjoyable."

Sophomore transfer Andi Pierce said, "I feel the NOC cove really brought us closer as a team and built trust between us because it gave us the opportunity to learn more about our teammates." When asked about how she thought the act of service went she said, "We got to work as a team off the court so it just made our chemistry stronger. Giving back to the school we represent is a privilege".

"I really enjoyed being there and getting to know everyone a little better! It made me feel more comfortable with everyone" freshman Macie Jo Pierce said of the trip.

Sophomore returner McKenna Pulley said, "We weren't able to do a service last year at the cove so being able to do it my last year was a great experience. Makes you feel great after your done. I'm glad we got to make the place look and feel better!"

When asked about her experience at The Cove, sophomore returner Kammi Gruber said, "The Cove is always a fun experience, but this year was something special. We were able to create bonds that will be seen on and off the court. Goals were set, and it's clear we are all on the same page. We are ready to take on this season as a family."
