Murray State Captures Lead Early To Defeat NOC Enid

NOC Enid watched the game slip away early and could not recover in a 13-1 loss to Murray State on Thursday. Murray State took the lead on a double in the first inning.

The NOC Enid struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Murray State, giving up 13 runs.

Murray State fired up the offense in the first inning. Jonathan Brandon drove in two when he doubled.

Murray State scored four runs in the fourth inning. Murray State's big inning was driven by singles by Erik Owen and Hayden Brown and by Gehrig Octavio.

Holden Cook earned the win for Murray State. He went three innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out one and walking one. Peyton Graham threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Cooper Harris took the loss for NOC Enid. He lasted two innings, allowing four hits and five runs while striking out two.

Clayton Peterson, Dylan Caplinger, Matt Conerly, and Griffin Keller each collected one hit to lead NOC Enid.

Murray State saw the ball well today, racking up ten hits in the game. Brandon, Owen, and Octavio all had multiple hits for Murray State.

NOC Enid Falls to Murray State

NOC Enid got things started in the first inning. Griffin Keller hit a solo homer.

Murray State pulled away for good with seven runs in the third inning. In the third Erik Owen doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run, Jacob Padilla singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, Hayden Brown homered on a 1-0 count, scoring three runs, and Matt McElwain singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Cody White was the winning pitcher for Murray State. He surrendered one run on three hits over four innings, striking out three. Brendan Bell and Alex Clay entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Jarrett Sweeney took the loss for NOC Enid. He lasted two and a third innings, allowing eight hits and seven runs while striking out two.

Keller went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead NOC Enid in hits.

Murray State had nine hits in the game. Owen and Brown each racked up multiple hits for Murray State. Murray State was sure-handed in the field and did not commit a single error. Brown had the most chances in the field with 11.
