NOC Enid pitcher Steve Owings signed with the University of Louisiana Monroe, coach Scott Mansfield announced this week.

Owings is a right-handed pitcher from Bixby.

"Stevie was a big part of what we did and what we were doing and Monroe is getting a really good arm but an even better young man," said Jets' coach Scott Mansfield.  "I expect really big things ahead for him and Monroe."

Mansfield reflected on this group of sophomores.

"This group is going to be remembered as part of the best two-year recruiting classes we've seen in Enid because they were able to achieve heights that we only hope to return to," Mansfield said.

"These guys were successful on the field and will continue to be successful there but they will also continue to be successful in the classroom and more importantly, life," Mansfield added.  "I appreciate their contribution to this program and myself and wish them the absolute best and wish them unbelievable success moving forward, love every one of these young men."
