Strong starting pitching leads to Jets sweep of Redlands

Jets pitchers allowed just four runs on 10 hits over 16 innings Saturday in a 5-2 and 7-2 doubleheader sweep of Redlands at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.

The Jets (15-16) improved to 6-6 in conference play.

In Game 1, Lance Gutierrez, Andrew Bowman, and Jesse Slimp allowed one earned run on five hits.  Bowman earned the win from the Jets bullpen, Slimp worked a scoreless ninth to earn the save.

The Jets scored all the runs they would need in the first as the Jets scored took an early 3-0 lead.

Nathan Gutierrez, Ty Chapman, and Kade Geoke had two hits each.

In the nightcap, the Jets used seven strong innings from Maddux Mayberry who allowed just two runs on four hits.  Jakob Brandenberger worked two scoreless innings for the Jets.

Jase White powered the offense with three hits including a home run and three runs batted in.  Nathan Gutierrez, Owen Tracy, and Kade Goeke had two hits each for the Jets.

The Jets host Murray State on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
