Jets rout NOC Tonkawa, earn doubleheader split

TONKAWA, Oklahoma --  The NOC Enid Jets routed NOC Tonkawa 17-5 in Game 2 of a conference doubleheader Friday.  

NOC Tonkawa won Game 1 6-4.

The Jets (18-23) are now 9-13 in conference while NOC Tonkawa (29-13) are 15-7 in league play.

In Game 2, the blew the game wide open with a nine run second inning to build a 10-0 lead.  The Jets sent 13 men to the plate in the inning, the Jets had seven consecutive hits.  Nathan Gutierrez had a triple, Evan Casey had a double and Brayden Bock a triple for the Jets.

The Jets continued to pile on with three runs in the third and four in the sixth cruising to the 12 run win.

Casey had four hits while Sammy Harris and Tracy had three hits each in a 19 hit attack.

Harris, Bock, and Tracy had three runs batted in each.

Jakob Brandenberger started for the Jets with bullpen help from Gunner Phillips and Solomon James.

In Game 1, NOC Tonkawa built an early lead and held off the Jets 6-4.

The Jets scored single runs in three of the first four innings but NOC Tonkawa scored two runs in the first, second, and fifth.

The Jets plated one run in the seventh on a Harris groundout scoring Gutierrez but fell 6-4.

Jack Cline started for the Jets with Josh Rains and Brodie Finlay working in relief.

The Jets host NOC Tonkawa Sunday at David Allen Memorial Ballpark at 1 p.m.
