Butcher announces 2019 recruiting class

Northern Oklahoma Enid head coach Aaron Butcher is pleased to announce the 2019 recruiting class for the Jets. "I, along with Coach Gerber, am very excited about the class that we have put together. It is a large class, and one we feel that checks all of the boxes. We can't wait to get them on campus in the Fall and get to work."

Jay Campbell (Guard-6'4-Jonesboro, AR)

Jay Campbell comes to Enid after having a decorated career at Nettleton High School in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Coach Butcher sees Jay having an immediate impact. "Jay is a solid player and has a chance to do some big things here. He is strong, explosive, and a big time competitor. Jay possesses a lot of characteristics that 4 year coaches look for and I have no doubt that there will be a lot of coaches coming through to see Jay during his time in Enid."

Kolten Childers (Guard- 5'10-Enid, OK)

Kolten comes to Enid from nearby Chisholm High School where he was 3A all-star his senior year. In addition to being named an all-star in his final campaign, Kolten also won the following awards or was named to the following teams: 1st team all Northwest Oklahoma, All vype basketball 89er conference team, OBCA district 1 all-star team, 2018 & 2019 Wheat Capital all-tournament team, 2018 & 2019 Vype top 100, Daily Oklahoman 3A all-state team, and was an Enid News and Eagle Northwest All-Star.

Coach Butcher has this to say about Kolten: "Kolten has certainly had a successful high school career and we are really looking forward to having him in a Jets uniform. Kolten is a high-character kid who in addition to great success on the basketball court has had great success in the classroom. He is a high IQ player who can really shoot it. Those traits will help him be successful here."

Julian Cockrell (Center- 6'9-Tulsa, OK)

Julian Cockrell gives the Jets some much needed size inside. Julian was a 2-time state Champion at Tulsa Memorial High School under coach Bobby Allison.

Coach Butcher sees Julian as a guy whose best basketball is ahead of him. "Julian has a chance to be a force inside. He continued to show improvement throughout his high school career and I think he is just scratching the surface of how good he can be. We can't wait to continue to develop him and see just how good he can be."

Josh Crutchfield (Forward- 6'5-Norman, OK)

Josh Crutchfield makes his way North to Enid after a successful career at Norman North High School in Norman, Oklahoma. Josh was a member of the COAC all-conference team his senior year.

Josh was the first commitment in the 2019 class and that is not a coincidence as coach Butcher explains: "We identified Josh early as someone who possesses the characteristics that we want in this program. He is a hard worker, possesses a great basketball IQ, has a high motor, and does all of the little things you want him to do. He comes from a basketball family and understands what it takes to be successful at this level."

Patrick Garrett (Guard/Forward-6'6-Oklahoma City, OK)

Patrick is the highest rated in-state signing for the Jets in this class as he is ranked #15 in the state of Oklahoma by Prep Hoops.

Coach Butcher sees a lot of potential in Garrett: "Patrick is a great kid who we really enjoyed recruiting. We saw Patrick last Summer and his length and athleticism really jumped out at us. He can play multiple positions and gives you versatility on both ends of the floor. He is another kid in this class that we feel is just scratching the surface of how good he can be. Patrick has the potential to be a high impact guy and someone a lot of schools are coming to Enid to see in 2 years."

Damari Gatewood (Guard- 6'2-McCordsville, IN)

Damari Gatewood is 1 of 2 signees from the Hoosier State, Coach Butcher's home state.                 Coach Butcher sees Quentin helping the Jets in a number of ways. "Quentin is long and athletic. His ability to shoot it from the perimeter is continuing to improve, and his size and athleticism allow him to guard multiple positions."

Jets assistant coach Chris Gerber played for Andrew's Dad, James, in high school and was instrumental in helping get O'Brien to Enid.

Coach Butcher sees O'Brien having an impact from day 1: "Andrew had some really good opportunities on the table. We could not be more excited to have him coming to Enid with us. Andrew had some monster games in high school, including a 44 point performance this past season. He is a big-time athlete, can really shoot it, and has a high basketball IQ. He will fit our system very well and am confident he will be successful here."

Cale Lazenby (Guard-6'2-Glencoe, OK)

Cale Lazenby looks to carry on a strong family tradition with Jets basketball. Cales brother, Ty, was an all-american for the Jets and later went on to play at Oklahoma. Cales sister, Chelsea, was a major contributor on last years region championship squad for the Lady Jets.

Coach Butcher thinks the youngest Lazenby's best days are ahead of him, and had this to say: "We are excited to have Cale join our program. He had a successful career at Glencoe, and think he will continue to improve and get better at the next level."

Ikenna Okeke (Guard-6'5- Bolingbrook, IL

Okeke was the last addition to the Jets recruiting class, and one coach Butcher was thrilled to add. "We had 1 scholarship left, and wanted to make sure we used it on the right person. When I first saw film on Ikenna, there was a ton of positives that jumped out at me. He has good size and athleticism, but more importantly has a great basketball IQ, is a great passer, and can really finish. Those are all attributes that will help him succeed as a Jet."

Josh Perkins (Forward- 6'7- Ypsilanti, MI)

Perkins comes to Enid after playing his Freshman year at Hutchinson Community College. Perkins is a strong, powerful forward who should make an immediate impact for the Jets.

"Josh has a chance to be a really good player. He plays with a great motor and toughness", Butcher said. "He can impact the game in a variety of ways for us, and are really looking forward to continuing to develop his game."

Jalen Stamps (Guard- 5'11- Indianapolis, IN)

Jalen Stamps comes to Enid from Indianapolis, Indiana.

Coach Butcher's remarks on Jalen: "Jalen is a tough, high energy guard who can really shoot it from the perimeter. He had some big games against some really good teams in Indianapolis this past season."

Jalen was selected 3rd team all-city in Indianapolis this past season, and won a class 4A (largest class) state championship his junior year.

Abraham Rodriguez (Forward- 6'5- Enid, OK)

Rodriguez is another local product set to join the Jets family next season. Abraham was an all-conference selection his senior season at Enid High school, his first year there after living in Austrailia with his family the previous five years.

Coach Butcher had this to say about Rodriguez, "Abraham is a great kid who can really shoot the ball. He is a great communicator on the floor and should elevate our program."

Coach Butcher has this to say about Da'Lin: "Da'Lin is a great kid who comes from a good program. He is a strong who can get to the rim and finish. He did a little bit of everything in his high school career. Like the other guys in this class, Da'Lin is a high-character, high-motor guy who we think will keep getting better."
