The NOC Enid Jets opened the 2021 season Friday night with a 114-87 rout over OnPoint Academy at the Mabee Center.

Friday's win was the first in the career of head coach Chris Gerber.

Ikenna Okeke led six Jets in double figures with 17 followed by Abraham Rodriguez with 16, Jalen Stamps 15, Andrew O'Brien 15, Tydarius Fish 12, and Quentin Harvey 10.

NOC Enid jumped out to a 29-5 lead in the game's first few minutes and never looked back.

"We were able to jump out early," Gerber said.  "Our defense was aggressive and offensively we shared the ball.  This team has many weapons offensively so I expect balanced scoring through the season."

The Jets' defense was Gerber's biggest takeaway.

"We showed we can play good defense for 10-15 minutes, we just need to take it to the next step," Gerber added.  "Tonight was a lot of fun for me, I enjoyed watching the guys' energy and excitement of playing again."
