Jets dominate Murray, reach the Region 2 Finals on Saturday

The NOC Enid Jets cruised to the NJCAA Region 2 Finals with a convincing 77-51 win over Murray State at the Stride Bank Center in Enid.

The 2nd seeded Jets (17-4) now face top seed NOC Tonkawa (22-1) at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The winner receives an automatic bid to the NJCAA National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas.  The loser may qualify as an at-large team for the tournament.

NOC Enid handed NOC Tonkawa its only loss of the season on March 11, the Mavs won the first match-up at Tonkawa in February.

Jalen Stamps led the Jets on Friday with 18 points while Ikenna Okeke had 12, Quentin Harvey 11, and Noah Jordan 10.

Harvey led the Jets with eight rebounds while Andrew O'Brien added five.  Dakoda Joachim led with five assists.

"I thought our defense was as close to perfect as possible," said coach Chris Gerber.  "Coach Reddick did a great job with the scout and the players' execution was great. We knew what we had to do and executed."

"It was a total team effort today, everyone gave great energy and was locked in," Gerber said.

Murray State took an early 10-5 lead and then the Jets went on a 25-8 run to end the half taking a 30-18 lead to the dressing room.

The Jets then blew the game wide open building as much as a 29 point lead.

"We are excited for the opportunity tomorrow, but know it will be a tough challenge," Gerber said.  "Tonkawa is a great team, we need another day of execution and energy."
