The Lady Jets watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 7-2 loss to Cottey College on Friday. Cottey College scored on a single by Izzy Milligan in the first inning and a grand slam by Rayne Wright in the second inning. The Lady Jets lost despite out-hitting Cottey College ten to eight. Cottey College opened up scoring in the first inning, when Milligan singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run. Cottey College scored four runs in the second inning. Cottey College scored its runs on a grand slam by Wright. Emily Killion led things off on the rubber for Cottey College. She allowed ten hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out three and walking zero. Lindsi Spring got the start for the Jets. She went five innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits and striking out six. Courtney Vaughn threw one inning out of the bullpen.The Lady Jets tallied ten hits. Kelsey Gammage, Marrissa Gibson, and Madeline Pitts all had multiple hits for the Jets. Gammage led the team with three hits in four at bats. Wright went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Cottey College in hits.
