NOC Grabs Lead In Fifth Inning To Defeat Labette

NOC snatched the lead late in the game in a 5-3 victory over Labette on Friday. The game was tied at three with the Lady Jets batting in the top of the fifth when Lexi Vargas doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs. In the first inning, NOC got their offense started. Vargas singled on a 0-1 count, scoring three runs. In the bottom of the second inning, Labette tied things up at three when Payton Nigh doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. Lindsi Spring took the win for NOC. She lasted three and a third innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out four and walking one. Haylee VanDeventer led things off on the hill for Labette. She lasted seven innings, allowing seven hits and five runs while striking out four and walking zero. NOC collected seven hits on the day. Kelsey Gammage and Vargas all managed multiple hits for the Lady Jets. Gammage led the team with three hits in four at bats. NOC didn't commit a single error in the field. Courtlyn Head had eight chances in the field, the most on the team. Labette totaled eight hits. Gwen Smalley, Nigh, and Annie Fluman all collected multiple hits for Labette.
