Jets earn split with Dodge City

Slater Eck's 9th innning single scored the winning run in an exciting season opener for the Jets, winning 11-10 over Dodge City in extra innings.

Tuesday's games were the first for head coach Megan Hill at NOC Enid.

"I'm proud of the way the girls fought today," said coach Megan Hill.  "They hung in there when things were going against us and fought hard.  They showed good mental toughness.  We did a lot of good things but we know where we stand and what we need to work on."

The Jets threatened to make the game a laugher scoring seven runs over the first two innings but Dodge City rallied to tie the score at 8-8 after seven innings.

The Jets then fell behind 10-8 in the ninth inning before rallying for three runs in the bottom half to win the game 11-10.

NOC had 10 hits with Eck leading the way with two hits.  Desirae Tecumseh homored for the Jets with Lauren Ball collecting two runs batted in.

Dodge City won the night cap 10-5 in a five inning game shortened by darkness.

Megan Lee had a double and two runs batted in for the Jets, Eck scored two runs for NOC Enid.

Mayson Pettus was the starter in the circle with relief help from Ashleigh McCause.
