HUTCHINSON, Kansas --  The NOC Enid Jets split a doubleheader at Hutchinson (KS) Saturday afternoon.

The Jets (2-8) lost the first game 10-4 but rebounded to win the second game 8-7.

In Game 2, the Jets plated six runs over the first two innings and held on for an 8-7 win.

Kaitlyn Thomas had two hits including a triple and drove in four runs.  Jade Strickland and Ashley McCause each drove in two runs.

Bailey Gilliam tossed the first 5.1 innings allowing five runs, Mayson Pettus pitched the final 1.2 innings earning the save for the Jets.  Pettus allowed two unearned runs.

In Game 1, the Jets lost 10-4 scoring all four runs in the 5th.

Megan Lee had runs batted in for the Jets while Mackinzie Simmons had one rbi.

"I thought we played pretty well the whole day, just gave up one big inning in the first game," said coach Megan Hill.  "We started to put everything together towards the end of the first game so we felt pretty good going into the second game. Bailey Gilliam was in her first game back after an injury and she performed very well. She closed out the first game so we went with her as long as we could in the second game, she threw 11 great innings for us."

"In the second game we were able to put all three phases of the game together, I think for the first time all year," Hill said.  "Our hitting was on the whole game, our pitchers did a great job and we played solid defense. We have several girls out with injuries so we pieced our lineup together with our healthy girls and I am proud of the way they fought through the day. We have a long way to go but Saturday was a good start in the direction we are going."
