Lee homers twice in losses to Butler

Megan Lee homered in each game of Wednesday's doubleheader but the Jets lost to Butler 9-8 and 14-4.

NOC Enid is now 2-12 on the year.

In Game 1, the Jets held an 8-6 lead before Butler rallied with three runs in the 7th inning to squeeze out a 9-8 win.

Lee and Kaitlyn Thomas had three runs batted in each, Mackinzie Simmons had two hits.  Slater Eck scored two runs for the Jets.

Ashley McCause allowed seven earned runs on nine hits in the circle.

In Game 2, the Jets were led by Lee, Addison Gilliam and Jade Strickland with two hits and one run batted in each.

Bailey Gilliam was the starter in the circle for NOC.

Coach Megan Hill said the Jets' players have stayed positive despite a number of close losses.

"It's been a rough stretch," Hill said.  "The girls are staying positive and know things will go our way soon. Progress is being made in the right direction and we will start seeing results with that. We try not to talk much about the record and more about trusting the process that we have in place. I feel like this week several girls started settling in and playing more relaxed and it shows in their game."

"Yesterday against Butler we showed that we have the ability to compete at a high level when we are clicking, a few decisions here and there on game management and I believe we pull away with a win," she added.  "I believe our non-conference schedule did exactly what it is meant to do in preparing us for conference play. We played a very tough non-conference schedule and I believe it made us stronger, I think we are ready for Tuesday (conference play against NEO)."
