Jets rout rival NOC Tonkawa in road sweep

TONKAWA, Oklahoma --  The NOC Enid Jets picked up a conference road sweep of rival NOC Tonkawa Thursday at Maverick Field 8-2 and 13-3.

The Jets (16-21) improved to 7-7 in league play while NOC Tonkawa (22-19) fell to 5-13 in conference.

In Game 1, Ty Chapman and Jack Roubik homered while Piercen Mcelyea tossed a complete game allowing two runs over seven innings striking out nine.

The Jets trailed 1-0 until the fourth when NOC Enid scored four runs.  Calyn Halvorson and Tanner Holliman walked to set up the inning.  After a Blake Scott ground out, Jack Roubik singled giving the Jets a 1-0 lead.  Chapman provided the big blow with a three run blast to right field giving the Jets a 4-1 lead.

NOC Enid then tacked on two runs in the fifth and one each in the sixth and seventh.

Roubik's home run came in the sixth.

In Game 2, the Jets jumped on the Mavs with eight runs over the first three innings and won going away 13-3.

Halvorson had three hits including a home run and two doubles driving home six runs.

Scott and Roubik added two hits each, Ben Lawson added two runs batted in.

Murphy Gienger allowed three runs over 5.1 innings to earn the win.  Gunner Phillips tossed the final 1.2 innings for the Jets.

NOC Enid will go for the series win and potential sweep Saturday at David Allen Memorial Ballpark at 1 p.m.
