Northern Oklahoma College Enid has announced Cesar Zepeda as interim women's soccer coach for the 2023 season.

Zepeda replace Michael DuRoy who resigned Aug. 25.

"Given the timing of the abrupt departure of Coach Duroy I am excited to have Cesar lead our women's program this season," said athletic director Alan Foster.

"Coach Zepeda has done an incredible job holding things together this past week," Foster said. "I feel with him taking over as interim women's head coach will allow him to focus more on one team but still assist with the men whom he has some familiarity with.  He was put in a difficult position but has performed exceptionally well."

Zepeda is excited about the opportunity at NOC.

"I am pleased to be named the interim women's coach," Zepeda said.  "I am excited to have the opportunity to work with this group of players this year."

The Jets are 1-0-1 in the 2023 season.

Foster said his concern is for the student athletes.

"As athletic director, one of my main concerns with the transition, especially given the timing, was to make sure that the student athletes continue to have an incredible student athlete experience at NOC.  I feel like the re-structuring of the coaching duties with each team having a head coach whose primary focus is a specific team will be an improvement.  Secondary duties of assisting the other team only helps our entire program."

Zepeda, in his second year at NOC, is a 2015 NOC graduate coming from Oklahoma City's Western Heights High School.

Zepeda played at Northern Oklahoma College and then continued his career at Oklahoma Christian University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Sports, Wellness, and Recreation Management.

He then earned his Masters of Education at East Central University in Sports Administration. Additionally, he is certified in the US soccer national D license.

He coached for years at Western Heights High School before coming to NOC.

He will also assist with the men's program.
